Nestled between lush tropical gardens and a mile long beach of powdery white sands, The Residence is a successful marriage of bygone charm and modern comfort. Inspired by turn of the century plantation houses, the hotel is reminiscent of the palaces of yesteryear - each refined detail is a tribute to the deliciously nostalgic elegance of a sophisticated lifestyle.
A first glimpse of the majestic lobby, with its slender cathedral-like forms, sets the impressive scene. It’s a theme sustained throughout amid delicate shades of beige and tropical hardwoods, antiques from remote corners of Asia – and in the luxurious rooms and suites by white shutters, honey-coloured woods, wrought iron and cool tiles that unite to enhance the sense of space and tranquillity.
Each room and suite is decorated in gentle tones of white, cream and beige. The interiors retain the simplicity and mood of the 1920's era, with beige silk and white linen beds, over sized marble bathrooms and dressing rooms. Also, every room and suite is assigned a personal butler to take away those mundane jobs such as unpacking and doing laundry.
The 135 Garden, Ocean View or Ocean Front rooms each have a spacious private balcony or terrace, king size or twin bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, ceiling fan, desk, living area, satellite TV with in house movie and music channels, mini bar.
The large marble bathrooms are equipped with a separate bathtub and shower cabin.
There are 28 Suites: The Colonial Garden View Junior Suite, The Garden View Senior Suite, The Colonial Ocean View and t Colonial Ocean Front.
The garden view junior suites enjoy an adjoining living area while the garden view senior suites have their own separate living room. Both feature satellite TV with in house movie and music channels, tea and coffee facilities, and DVD/CD player. The terrace comes complete with chairs and table (sun beds are available in the Senior suites). Both categories are perfect for families.
The hotel also prides itself on its cuisine, whose symphony of subtle aromas, tastes and colours can be savoured in its three restaurants. The Dining Room restaurant, made entirely of wood and delicately positioned overlooking the pool, is an open invitation to discover the thousand and one savours of a sophisticated cuisine. The Verandah serves light lunches around the pool.
The Plantation, a planter's house by the beach, offers a wide range of seafood and a selection of dishes cooked with local herbs and spices. The bar spacious yet intimate, whose walls are hung with a fine collection of engravings of scenes from Mauritius's history, awaits you for late breakfast, traditional tea or an exotic cocktail.
The 600 square metres of this temple to relaxation are dedicated to the well-being of the body and the mind, offering a wide choice of massages, custom-made programmes and La Prairie skincare treatments. More than a massage or sports centre, The Sanctuary offers a unique concept in Mauritius with its original environment taking its inspiration from "Zen" philosophy and where every consideration is given to your particular need.
